The A19 Tees Viaduct known as “The Flyover” will close overnight next week for essential maintenance works.
Starting Monday the 11th of March the A19 Tees Viaduct will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am for two weeks excluding weekends for overnight works.
The section between the A66 and A1046 Portrack Interchange will be closed for routine maintenance works.
Works usually include…
- Structural works to supports, beams and barriers
- Carriageway patching / resurfacing
- Gully Cleansing
- Street lighting works
This section of the A19 which opened in 1975 is one of the busiest stretches of road in the North East and the Tees Viaduct requires constant works to enable it to remain open to traffic with minimal delays to motorists.
Diversions will be clearly signed along the A66 towards Middlesbrough over Newport Bridge and drivers are to rejoin the A19 at the Portrack Lane Interchange and vice versa.
Minor delays are expected and drivers are expected to plan ahead.
