The A693 in the West Pelton area of County Durham was closed on Friday evening after a head on crash closed the road resulting in diversions for motorists.
A crash which resulted in one person getting transported to hospital and major damage to vehicles blocked the key County Durham road on Friday night.
A Durham Constabulary spokesperson said…
“Officers from Durham Constabulary attended a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A693 near West Pelton at approximately 9.25pm on Friday (Dec 13).
The incident involved a head-on collision between two vehicles a Volvo and a Ford Kuga
The driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his early 20s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precautionary measure.
Due to the extensive damage, the road was closed for approximately two hours while debris was removed from the carriageway”



The A693 is a busy route linking the towns of Consett and Stanley with the A1(M) Motorway near Chester-Le-Street
