The crash which took place at around 04:25am on 17th of December involving two HGV’s has completely closed the A19 Northbound between the A67 and A174 near Yarm and Ingleby Barwick. Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

The A19 Northbound towards Teesside remains closed between the A67 Crathorne and the A174 Parkway as well as this lane two on the Southbound side has been closed due to barrier damage. Cleveland Police have confirmed no serious injuries have been sustained as a result of the horror smash.

Photos below show the extent of the damage and now a huge clean-up and recovery operation is underway with the hope to the the road re-open mid afternoon.

Cleveland Fire Brigade Statement…

“Cleveland Fire Brigade were called on 17/12/2024 at 04.36am to an incident on A19 North, Crathorne. Large scale RTC involving 2 HGV vehicles.  Four fire engines were in attendance from Stockton, Thornaby, Coulby and Yarm. Two casualties. One casualty was handed over to Yorkshire Ambulance Service. The Fire Brigade made the scene safe and crews had left the incident by 6:10am.”

Cleveland Police have also been approached for comment.
