Drivers on the A66 (E) in Middlesbrough are experienced significant delays this afternoon due to an accident. Traffic monitoring services reported a medium irregularity with speeds averaging only 6.4 mph, significantly slower than the usual 51.2 mph. Delays of over 10 minutes were reported, but traffic conditions improved as the accident was cleared.
The accident occurred close to the Hartington Interchange in Middlehaven (TS2 1AF) shortly before 2.30PM.
The accident was cleared by 3:48pm with all lanes reopening and queues starting to ease.
