The A19 southbound was closed at the A1046 Portrack Interchange following a collision earlier. Motorists were experiencing delays of up to 50 minutes and queues of 3 miles and were advised to seek alternative routes as the traffic cleared. As of 15:40 all lanes have now reopened.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson confirmed earlier “The A19 southbound flyover has been closed following a collision. Please avoid the area if possible. Thank you for your patience.”
Traffic was moving at an average of 4mph through the queues that were forming southbound, with traffic early diverted using the exit and entry slip roads. There were additionally delays northbound due to traffic slowing close to the incident, and on the A1046 Haverton Hill Road where queues were 1.4 miles.
