Officers from North Yorkshire Police were called to a collision at about 3.30pm on Tuesday 2 April on the A19 east of Northallerton, near Kirby Sigston, involving four cars.

What happened?

Police, fire and ambulance services attended the scene.

The vehicles involved were a blue Skoda Fabia, a dark blue Skoda Octavia, a black Volkswagen Tiguan and a black coloured Volkswagen Golf

Six people were injured and taken to hospital for treatment, including one man who suffered life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital at this time.

The road was closed for several hours while specialist collision investigators worked at the scene to establish what could have caused the crash.
