Will They or Won’t They?

  • Stockton Riverside Fireworks 2024: Unfortunately, the popular Stockton Riverside Fireworks display will not be going ahead this year due to the ongoing redevelopment works – having last been held in 2021. The huge free event previously attracted crowds of 30,000 people from across the region. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for its return in 2025 when the new Riverside Park is expected to be completed!
  • Darlington Fireworks 2024: Darlington Council last held their popular fireworks display in South Park in 2022. It was cancelled in 2023 due to a lack of funding, and no plans have been announced for a display in 2024.
  • Skinningrove Bonfire 2024: From 1982 to 2019 Skinningrove hosted a bonfire and fireworks display which attracted hundreds of people from around North Yorkshire. Each year the bonfire was based on a different theme. After missing 2020 and 2021 due to COVID, the bonfire was axed for good from 2022 due to safety issues caused by the huge crowds drawn to the remote village.

Further Afield (but still within reach!):

  • Hardwick Hall Fireworks (Sedgefield): A huge bonfire, fantastic fireworks, street food, and fairground rides on Sunday 3rd and Tuesday 5th November. 17:00-20:30.
  • Blaydon RFC Bonfire and Fireworks (Gateshead): Bonfire, fireworks set to music, food stalls, and a funfair on Saturday 2nd November. 15:00-21:00.
