A new British thriller film, titled “Jackdaw,” is set to hit cinemas. The film stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Netflix’s “The Haunting of Hill House”) and Jenna Coleman (BBC’s “Doctor Who”) and is set in Hartlepool, with filming also taking place across Teesside including Nunthorpe.
Jackdaw tells the story of a former motocross champion and army veteran who is now caring for his younger brother. When he agrees to do an open water pick up of a mysterious illegal package in the North Sea, a double cross and his brother’s disappearance set him and his old bike on a violent nocturnal odyssey through England’s northern rust belt.

The film is written and directed by Jamie Childs, making his feature film debut. Childs is a BAFTA-nominated filmmaker who is known for his short films, including “The Last Bus” and “The Mighty Red.”
Jackdaw is produced by Anton, a UK-based production company that has produced films such as “The Power of the Dog” and “The Banshees of Inisherin.” The film is expected to be released in theaters in the UK in late 2023.
Critics are already buzzing about Jackdaw, with some calling it “a must-see for fans of British thrillers.” The film has also been praised for its gritty realism and its atmospheric depiction of England’s northern rust belt.
Jackdaw is sure to be one of the most anticipated British films of 2023. With its talented cast and crew, and its intriguing premise, the film is poised to be a critical and commercial success.
