Emergency services attended the scene on Falmouth Street in Middlesbrough on Sunday evening in what has been reported to be a knife-related incident the junction of Falmouth Street and Waterloo Road, the area was taped off as onlookers gathered to watch the events unfold.
On Sunday evening at approximately 17:50 p.m. emergency services including armed officers from Cleveland Police’s Matrix Team descended onto the scene in the towns Falmouth Street close to the junction of Waterloo Road emergency ambulances along with specialist paramedics were also witnessed to be at the scene. A large cordon was erected as officers got to work trying to understand what has taken place.
Local witnesses described it to be a street attack however this has yet to be confirmed by police. Detectives and scenes of crime officers could be seen collecting evidence, taking photos and measurements on the street. The incident caused minor disruption in the surrounding streets as motorists and pedestrians navigated their way around the closures.
Locals witnessed a group of people arrested at gunpoint as armed officers surrounded a property shortly after they were led away from the area by police.
