A66 resurfacing in Stockton

The road surface on the eastbound carriageway between Long Newton and Elton is showing signs of wear and tear and requires attention.

Resurfacing work will recycle the lowest layers of the carriageway which reduces the carbon impact and lay new material for the upper layers.

From 7pm to 6am Monday a 24hr weekend Contraflow will be in place west of Long Newton to Yarm junction.

While National Highways recognise that a full weekend of resurfacing work can be very disruptive, it does mean that National Highways can complete the work more effectively by working days and nights.  This will minimise disruption during the week and help complete the scheme as soon as possible. For the duration of the work, reduced narrow lanes and reduced speed limits will be in place with average speed cameras installed for safety. The contraflow and traffic management will be removed at the end of the scheme over a series of night-time full closures 8pm to 6am.

Please note: that all planned work is subject to change due to adverse weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Please plan ahead for your journey, allow extra time, expect delays and use alternative routes where possible.Works are expected to last until mid-November”
