Emergency services, including  police responded to the scene, one of the cars hit the barrier wall adjacent to the road. The A66 Eastbound carriageway was totally closed between the A172 Cineworld Junction and the Middlehaven exit.

Cleveland Fire Brigade Statement

Firefighters responded to the scene at 11:04pm. Cleveland Fire Brigade release a statement saying: “It was a two-vehicle RTA and no persons were trapped. We stayed and made the scene safe.” They added that there was a small spillage of fuel on the road from the incident which was dealt with by the firefighters”

Officers are appealing for information and any relevant dashcam footage following a two-vehicle collision on the A66 in Middlesbrough.

The collision occurred at 10.50pm on Saturday 28th September on the A66 eastbound, near to the cinema. It involved a silver Ford Kuga and a black Audi RS3.

The road was closed for two hours whilst the incident was dealt with. Thankfully there were only minor injuries reported.

Anyone with information or anyone with dashcam footage of the collision or the vehicles in the Middlesbrough area prior to the collision, is urged to contact Cleveland Police on 101.
