A multi-vehicle crash has forced the closure of the A171 Moors Road between The Jolly Sailors Pub and the Liverton Road

At approximately 14:30pm on Thursday 2nd of May emergency services from the Cleveland and North Yorkshire area responded to what has been described as a ‘serious collision’ on the A171 between The Jolly Sailor Pub and the B1366 Liverton Road

Cleveland Fire Brigade have released the following statement “

Cleveland Fire Brigade are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision on the A171, near to the Jolly Sailors, Moorsholm, Saltburn. Road Traffic Collision involving three vehicles. 

Four fire engines are in attendance from Grangetown, Redcar, Saltburn and Stockton. The road is anticipated to be closed for some time as we work with our colleagues from Cleveland Police, North East Ambulance Service and Great North Air Ambulance. We would ask you to avoid the area”

The Great North Air Ambulance also attended the scene however it is unclear if they transported anyone to hospital.

A police spokesperson said “We’re attending reports of a serious crash on the A171 between Whitby and Guisborough. A section of road near the Jolly Sailor is currently closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident. Please plan your journey accordingly and thank you for your co-operation.”

North East Ambulance service have confirmed that two people have been taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. Their conditions are not currently unknown at this time.
