A serious multi-vehicle accident, including a Ford Fiesta, led to the closure of the road leading to Jade Business Park at Dalton Park roundabout.
The collision took place after the “NEC North East Carnage” car meetup took place nearby, and locals reported on social media that cars had been seen racing close to the incident in the hours leading the collision.
Emergency services are currently on the scene and the road is expected to remain closed for a significant period of time.
In a statement, North East Ambulance said “We were called to a road traffic collision on Barwick Road, Seaham at 7.38 this evening. We dispatched two double crewed ambulances, a clinical team leader and a specialist paramedic. We were also supported by Great North Air Ambulance’s medical car. We transported one patient to Sunderland Royal Hospital and two patients were treated and discharged at the scene.”
